PS6 delay reported, but reader says stick with PS5 for now.

The PS5 will make future consoles unnecessary, causing problems for Sony.

Do we really need another new console? Recently, there have been rumors that the PlayStation 6 release could be pushed back by several years. But as a loyal PlayStation fan, I believe there's no need to move on from the PlayStation 5 just yet. I was intrigued to read that the delay for the PlayStation 6 could be even longer than initially expected. There's been talk of a potential delay to 2027, despite leaked specs and vague confirmations from Sony that the console is on its way. It seems like the delay is largely due to the increased price of RAM, which is out of Sony's control. But personally, I'm glad to hear it. I have no interest in upgrading to a PlayStation 6 unless it's extremely cheap, which we all know it won't be. Honestly, my PlayStation 5 feels like my six-year-old iPhone 11. It's still working perfectly and I see no reason to upgrade, especially since there aren't any significant features on newer models that I feel I'm missing out on. The PlayStation 5 is in the same position, but in the world of consoles. I'm not sure what kind of marketing buzzwords Sony will come up with for the PlayStation 6, but as far as I'm aware, there aren't any groundbreaking technologies or features that the PlayStation 5 is lacking. Even the ones it does have, like ray-tracing, don't make a significant difference and seem like unnecessary hype. This seems to be the case with most technology at the moment, where everything works perfectly and there's no major advancement to be made. That's why tech enthusiasts had to create such a buzz around AI - they had nothing new to sell, but their profits still needed to increase. Sony may come up with something to justify the release of the PlayStation 6, but I highly doubt it will convince me or others in a similar situation. The PlayStation 5 has barely been pushed to its full potential and even if it were, the graphics are already impressive enough. It would be too expensive and time-consuming for game developers to constantly improve graphics, resulting in games taking years to make. By now, it's clear that the PlayStation 5 can do everything we could possibly want from a console. Sony should accept this and continue selling it for at least another 10 years. It seems like they're starting to come around to this way of thinking, especially with the recent rumors of a new handheld PlayStation 5. This would be a great way to keep things going without the need for a costly and disruptive new home console. I would also hope that keeping the PlayStation 5 around for longer would give Sony the chance to improve their first-party exclusives. However, I'm not that naive. I do expect some improvements, as developers become more familiar with the console and are freed from working on failed live service games. But ultimately, I don't really care what Sony does, because I won't be buying the PlayStation 6 for its hardware. The PlayStation 5 does everything I need and I can't imagine any new technology in the next 10 or even 20 years that would significantly change my gaming experience. A new console would just be a costly purchase that I could have spent on games instead.
