The ospreys at Loch of the Lowes have come back on the same day each year.
Both breeding ospreys at the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Loch of the Lowes nature reserve in Perthshire have returned on the same day for the first time. Female NC0

returned to the nest at 7.43am, followed by male LM12 at 1.43pm. Perthshire ranger Sara Rasmussen expressed her joy, saying, “I was delighted to see her this morning. When I saw her gazing into the sky, I grabbed a pair of binoculars and discovered that she had noticed her breeding mate LM12.” Last year, LM12 had set a record early date of 13 March 2022. NC0 was ringed as a chick near Loch Ness in 2016 and had raised five chicks in her first breeding season in 2020. This year marks the twelfth breeding season for LM12 at Loch of the Lowes.
