Alex Murray, 31, had been consuming alcohol with friends in various pubs around Blackburn on Saturday October 1 last year, prior to starting a new job the following Monday.
His mum found him the next morning lying motionless on the ground near his home – also in Blackburn – with his head on a small step.
It is presumed he must have stumbled or fallen and hit his head in a dreadful accident.

A neighbor's CCTV shows Alex unsteadily heading towards his home at 2.40am on the Sunday prior to vanishing around the side of the house, an inquest held at Blackburn Town Hall today heard.
Sergeant Chris Birchall of Lancashire Constabulary said there was no proof of a third party being involved.
