The Black Women Film Network will celebrate and recognize the Class of 2024 at their 9th Annual Summit.
The Black Women Film Network is thrilled to announce its honorees for the year 2024! As the organization gears up for its ninth annual BWFN Summit, set to take place on March 23, 2024, in Atlanta, the excitement is palpable. This highly anticipated event will honor the Class of 2024 and recognize their outstanding achievements in the film and TV industry. The Summit Awards Luncheon will also announce the lucky scholarship recipients, who will each receive a generous sum of up to $1,000 to support their budding careers.

We are proud to present this year's honorees, who have all made significant contributions to the industry. Among them are the talented writer, producer, and actress Lena Waithe, the dynamic CEO and producer Mona Scott-Young, the brilliant creator and showrunner Raamla Mohamed, the talented actress Gail Bean, and the esteemed senior creative film executive Amber Rasberry. Each of these women has demonstrated incredible dedication and talent in their respective fields, and we are honored to celebrate them during this year's Summit.

The theme for this year's Summit is "Standing on Business: How Creatives Get the Bag," which highlights the importance of equity in the entertainment industry. We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, including NBCU Launch, Amazon, Aspire TV+, and Cvent, which have made this event possible. According to BWFN Board Chairwoman Chiquita Lockley, "From the picket lines to major press moments, we've heard strong voices like Gina Prince-Bythewood, Taraji P. Henson, Keke Palmer, and Issa Rae consistently address the need for equity for Black women across the spectrum of the entertainment industry."

In addition to the awards ceremony, the Summit also offers valuable networking opportunities, workshops, and panel sessions that shine a light on various aspects of the industry. Employment resources, such as the Amazing Stories Foundation PA program, will also be available to attendees. As Lockley explains, "With support from Fulton Films, our Summit focuses on leveling the playing field for entry and advancement within the industry for Black women."

We are excited to announce that our BWFN Short Film Festival, which showcases the talents of both emerging and established Black women filmmakers, will also be presented alongside the Summit. Lockley shared, "This year, we have realigned our BWFN Short Film Festival with the BWFN Summit for the first time since the pandemic." This is a testament to the resilience and determination of Black women in the industry, and we are proud to provide a platform for their voices to be heard.

The BWFN Summit, now in its 27th year, continues to be a trailblazing force in the industry. Established in 1997, this non-profit organization has been dedicated to inspiring and empowering Black women through its programming and strong social media presence. It serves as an important platform for representation and growth in the industry, and we are committed to remaining at the forefront of this movement.

We invite you to join us for the 2024 Summit, which will be held at Atlanta's Loudermilk Conference Center. Registration is now open on the BWFN website. In the words of Ava DuVernay, who is sponsoring free tickets for 16-year-olds to watch her new film "Origin," "Come through and bring your dreams, your voice, your future." We can't wait to see you there!
