Teyo Johnson, a former NFL tight end for the Oakland Raiders, has won a lawsuit against Everyrealm, the company he worked for, and its co-founder Janine Yorio. Johnson had accused the 47-year-old co-founder of sexual harassment and racism, and sued for $1.9 million.
However, Johnson ended up settling the case for a little more than $50,000. He accused Yorio and Everyrealm of making racist and lewd comments about his sexual preferences and of paying him lower wages because he was Black. The two sides eventually settled for a payment of $51,456 to Johnson, which was considerably less than the initial settlement demand of $7.4 million. Shane Seppinni, Johnson's attorney, released a statement on Law360 regretting the harm the lawsuit caused Yorio and Everyrealm and its employees. A spokesperson for Yorio also released a statement, saying that it was well worth avoiding further time wasted on the lawsuit.
