Steph McGovern, the daytime TV favourite and super fan of Strictly Come Dancing, has expressed her desire to join the show. However, for now she cannot make it happen due to the launch of her Channel 4 daytime programme Steph's Packed Lunch.
In an interview with Prima magazine for their September issue, Steph said "I'd love to be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, but it's never been the right time to do it. I can't do it now because I have the show and I don't want to be away from my daughter, but I'm hoping it will still be going in years to come."
She previously revealed that she had been asked "a couple of times" to take part on the show, and her co-star and former Strictly contestant John Whaite has been trying to persuade her to sign up. He said to his Instagram followers, “You know I said to Steph, my friend and colleague that she should do it because she’d be great, but I don’t know if she will, I hope she will. I’m sure they’d want her, Steph’s got some moves, let me tell you.”
The celebrity rumoured to be taking part in this year's edition of Strictly Come Dancing include This Morning host Josie Gibson, former Love Island star Zara McDermott, and Wham! legend Andrew Ridgeley. Angela Rippon, presenter of the show that provided inspiration to Strictly, may also be joining the competition series.
