Monday, Jan. 26: Harapalli Ravindra, Director of the State Vokkaligara Sangha, inaugurated the 39th State-level Silver Bowl Kabaddi Tournament at the ground in front of Sakammana Bungalow here on behalf of the Indiraagadhi fans' club.
Speaking later, he said that Kabaddi, a rural sport, is becoming more popular in recent times, and it is up to us to preserve and develop it. Such sports events have helped rural talents come to the mainstream of society. He said that a good platform should be provided to athletes by organizing more sports events. Everyone should engage in sports activities at least for a short time every day. Sports are helpful for physical and mental fitness. Instead of participating in any sport for prizes; the opportunity given should be used to bring out talents. Victory and defeat are integral parts of sports, and athletes should develop an attitude of accepting everything.
The. Sangha President H.A. Nagaraju said that the Sangha has been established for 41 years and has been organizing a state-level Kabaddi tournament for the last 38 years.
Tournaments were held in primary, secondary and college categories, youth under 20 years of age and public categories. Kalale Government School Physical Education Teacher Subramani, Karkalli Isaac, Sangha General Secretary H.B. Rajappa, Cooperative Secretary H.G. Ravindra, Honorary Secretary Jagadish, Convenor Ajeya and others were present at the program.
