As a PlayStation 5 owner who doesn't have an Xbox Series X, I was pleasantly surprised by how much the Xbox Games Showcase was able to capture my interest. Despite my preference for fantasy over sci-fi, I can see that Starfield will be a great game. The scope and customisation looks great!
On the other hand, the fan reaction to Spider-Man 2 was much less positive. The footage presented at the PlayStation Showcase felt underwhelming. It seemed like it was just the same as the first game, with graphics that didn't appear to be improved. The black suit storyline was also reminiscent of Spider-Man 3, which didn't take it seriously. And the chase with Lizard towards the end just looked like a QTE cut scene with not much control.
Comparing the two games, Starfield has been much more successful in terms of positive reaction and lasting impact. Xbox, the underdog, is well ahead of Sony in terms of buzz. It's hard to tell if Starfield will sell more Xbox's this Christmas, but it's clear that it has already beaten Spider-Man 2 in every measurable way.
