Starbucks Japan introduces a unique Frappuccino with sticky rice and roasted green tea to celebrate the New Year.
With the New Year's holiday period being such an important event on the calendar in Japan, it's only natural that Starbucks Japan would come up with something special to celebrate. This year they have created three new drinks that pay homage to traditional Japanese sweets.

The star of the show is the Hojicha Mochitto Milk Frappuccino. This Frappuccino is based on the popular traditional sweet, daifuku. Daifuku literally means 'great luck', making it the perfect treat to bring good fortune into the new year. It's made with two types of hojicha, a roasted green tea, combined with milk, cream flavoured sauce, and gyuhi pieces to give it a chewy texture. To finish it off, it's topped with whipped cream and white chocolate powder.

Starbucks has also created two other tea-based drinks. The first is the Hojicha Mellow Caramel Tea Latte. This latte combines Starbucks' original deep roasted hojicha and a lightly roasted stem hojicha with milk, white mocha flavoured syrup, and whipped cream, finished with a bitter caramel sauce for a rich contrast.

Last but not least is the Strawberry Lavender Tea Latte. This gorgeous tea latte contains a combination of black tea and milk scented with strawberry, lavender and bergamot, and is topped with whipped cream, honey, and strawberry flavoured powder.

These three drinks will be available in Starbucks Japan stores from 26 December to 16 January, with the Strawberry Lavender Tea Latte available until 12 March. So make sure to head over to Starbucks Japan and try out these unique treats to get your New Year off to a great start!
