The Nashville Police Department is currently searching for John Christopher Drake Jr., the estranged son of Chief John Christopher Drake, who is accused of shooting two officers in the Tennessee capital. The shooting occurred outside of a Dollar General store and Chief Drake released a statement expressing his shock and sadness.

According to KIRO 7 News, the shooting took place around 2:23 p.m. on October 21. Chief Christopher Moews of La Vergne Police Department held a press conference saying that the officers were pursuing a possible stolen vehicle when Drake Jr. allegedly produced a handgun and shot the two officers. One officer was shot in the left shoulder, while the other was shot in the right groin and right shoulder. At press time, both officers were in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Chief Drake's statement reveals that he and his son have been estranged for some time and that Drake Jr. has been involved in criminal activity and is a convicted felon. He has asked the public to contact law enforcement should they have any information that will lead to Drake Jr.'s arrest.

In response to the shooting, The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has issued a Blue Alert for Drake Jr. along with a description of his appearance and a call for the public to contact them with any information that they may have.
