Two individuals have been successfully rescued after encountering an unexpected ordeal while sailing on their yacht in rough waters, nearly 200km off the coast of New South Wales. The incident was reported to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority at 12.40pm yesterday, when an emergency alert was received from the Spirit of Mateship. According to authorities, the yacht had encountered a mechanical issue and was also taking on water, leaving the two sailors stranded.
Upon receiving the distress call, three helicopters were immediately dispatched to the scene. Despite their efforts, they were unable to retrieve the sailors due to the difficult conditions. After hours of diligent efforts, the man and woman were finally rescued at around 7.25am, unharmed and in good health. They were safely brought on board the Nemesis and are currently on their way to Sydney.
