Sherwood acknowledges error in not recognizing the positive impact Michael Carrick had on a Manchester United player.

Michael Carrick has truly made a significant impact on the atmosphere at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Tim Sherwood has taken responsibility for his previous remarks about Benjamin Sesko, expressing his apologies for dismissing the Manchester United striker as just another overpriced flop earlier this season. Like many of his teammates, Sesko has undergone a remarkable transformation since joining the Premier League giants from RB Leipzig over the summer.

In fact, he is almost unrecognizable from the player who struggled immensely during the final few months under Ruben Amorim's tenure. Despite his initial transfer fee of £66.3million, Sesko initially struggled to adapt to the demands of English football. In his first 19 games across all competitions, Sesko only managed to score two goals.

He was also heavily criticized for appearing to shy away from taking a penalty in an embarrassing Carabao Cup defeat against Grimsby Town. However, the 22-year-old seemed to have turned a corner when he scored twice in a 2-2 draw against Burnley, which was also the first game of Darren Fletcher's brief stint as caretaker manager. Unfortunately, Sherwood was not impressed with his overall performance.

Sherwood stated, "The one positive is Sesko scoring two goals. Hopefully, it boosts his confidence. It took him six months to finally step up at Man United, and I am happy for the lad.

He has had a tough time, and I took him off at half-time, thinking he would never wear a Man United shirt again." However, Sesko did not let this criticism affect him. In fact, he went on to score five more goals in his next seven games, including the winner in last weekend's 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace. This impressive run of form has solidified his position as the most in-form center forward in the Premier League.

Sherwood has since admitted that he may have been too quick to pass judgment on Sesko and his abilities. He had based his initial assessment on the Sesko he saw playing under Amorim, who seemed hesitant to take a penalty against Grimsby. But now, Sherwood acknowledges that he may have underestimated Sesko's potential and owes him an apology.

He also credits Michael Carrick for Sesko's transformation, stating, "Carrick has completely changed Sesko's game and has brought out the best in him. He is now playing to his strengths and has gained confidence, scoring some fantastic goals and causing nightmares for defenders with his pace." In Sherwood's eyes, Sesko is a completely different player from the one he saw a few months ago under Amorim. He commends Sesko for his impact as a substitute, coming off the bench with a fiery attitude and making a significant impact on games - a dream for any manager to have in a striker.

As a result, the question remains - should Michael Carrick be the next manager for Manchester United? Sherwood believes he has earned the right, but ultimately, the decision is up to the fans.
