Mumbai: Shiv Sena's Excise Minister Shambhuraj Desai has denied any reports of nervousness among the party's MLAs after the swearing-in of NCP leader Ajit Pawar as Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister. Desai said that the coalition had come together to strengthen the hands of PM Narendra Modi and to take forward the thought of Hindutva, and that any party which joins this endeavour is welcome. He also stated that there are still 14 vacancies in the state cabinet which shall be filled soon.
Desai further went on to criticize Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, labelling him as the 'parrot of a roadside fortune teller'. He said that Raut had been drawing chits but all had gone wrong and that there was no need to take him seriously. Raut had predicted in his party's mouthpiece Saamana, that Ajit Pawar would soon replace CM Eknath Shinde. Desai went on to say that the state government has carried out many projects for the betterment of the people and that such an outcome is highly unlikely.
Also, NCP leader Supriya Sule has said that the developments in the NCP will not affect the Opposition's unity. She said that the party is united and that they will continue to work together in the interest of the people. She also added that NCP is open to all kinds of constructive criticism and will continue to work for the state's development.
