SC: No one can intimidate a child, rules court in CJP protester's FIR case.

In New Delhi, the Supreme Court has taken a serious stance on the allegations of harassment against a minor girl who participated in the Cockroach Janta Party protests in July. The court firmly stated that no one should be allowed to intimidate the victim or her family for seeking justice through criminal proceedings. The bench, consisting of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, has directed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to ensure prompt action on the girl's FIR.

The court has also requested reports from the governments of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on the matter. The bench emphasized that cases involving violence against children cannot be taken lightly and no one should be protected if they are found guilty. The counsel representing the 14-year-old girl informed the court that she has faced harassment and her house was even vandalized after she registered the FIR against a person who claimed to have attacked her father during the CJP's protest.

The lawyer also pointed out that instead of prosecuting those who were with the accused, an FIR has been filed against the child, which goes against the previous orders of the Supreme Court. The lawyer also mentioned that there is video evidence of the girl's house being pelted with stones. The lawyer also expressed concerns about the delay in the high-powered committee's investigation and stated that if anything happens to the child in the meantime, it cannot be undone later.

The Delhi Police has already added additional charges, including the SC/ST Act and criminal intimidation, to the FIR against Hindutva influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj in connection to the alleged assault on the minor girl's father during the protests. The situation is alarming, and the Supreme Court has rightfully taken notice of it. No one should feel threatened or unsafe for seeking justice, especially a child.

It is essential to hold those responsible for violence against children accountable and ensure that justice is served. Let us hope that the authorities take necessary action to protect the young girl and her family and prevent such incidents in the future.
