One Memphis One Vision (OMOV), a Memphis-based non-profit, is calling out rapper Saucy Santana for allegedly scamming them out of thousands. According to a series of posts captured by The Neighborhood Talk, the non-profit had booked Santana for a Juneteenth Pride event on June 18, with an agreement to pay the rapper a total of $25k to host the event and perform two songs.
The contract stated that if Santana failed to show up, the non-profit would be guaranteed a full refund. Unfortunately, Santana missed his flight, reportedly because he had "forgotten his wallet". Furthermore, Santana's team reportedly asked OMOV to “find him another place to perform” and pay him the backend of $10k.
The non-profit took issue with Santana staying inside his hotel room and leaving his team to rectify his late appearance at the event that had already ended. They also had to foot some unexpected expenses, including $2k in travel fees and $2k for Santana's rider, which included tequila bottles and Popeyes chicken.
Not only was OMOV out of pocket, but the funds paid to Santana were taxpayer funded. In response, OMOV is demanding a public apology from Santana as well as a payment plan to receive the $25k owed to them— $15k for the initial booking and $10k for the other expenses.
This is not the first time Santana has been accused of failing to show up to an event after being booked. OMOV insists that this kind of behavior is unacceptable and hopes to receive the compensation they are due.
