Sacred Teerthodbhava Ritual to Take Place at Talakaveri Today

Madikeri, Oct 16: Talakaveri—the source of the Kaveri, the lifeline of the region—is all set for the sacred *Teerthodbhava* (the ritual appearance of the holy waters), coinciding with this year’s *Tula Sankramana* festival.

The *Teerthodbhava* is scheduled to take place on Saturday, the 17th, at 7:50 PM during the *Mesha Lagna* (an auspicious astrological alignment). Even amidst the festive fervor of the ongoing Dasara celebrations in Madikeri and Gonikoppalu, devotees are eagerly and devoutly awaiting this sacred event.

Preparations for the *Teerthodbhava* are nearly complete. The district administration and the police department have made comprehensive arrangements at the Bhagandeshwara Temple in Bhagamandala and at the source of the Kaveri.

The holy sites are resplendent, adorned with lights and flowers. Arrangements have also been made for religious rituals, including the offering of *Pinda* (oblations to ancestors) at the *Triveni Sangama* (the confluence of three rivers). The police department has implemented necessary precautionary measures to ensure adequate security. Arrangements have been made for vehicle parking, traffic flow from Bhagamandala to Talakaveri, and KSRTC bus services. Furthermore, various departments, including the Health Department, are overseeing operations to ensure everything proceeds smoothly. This time, a dedicated Management Committee for Bhagamandala-Talakaveri has also been formed, with the new President, B.N. Prathyoo, and the committee members working together.
