Rylan Clark's mother, Linda, recently had a scary experience that landed her in the hospital. As temperatures dropped in the UK, Linda slipped on some ice outside her home, mistaking it for water. This caused her to fall and fracture her shoulder. The incident was revealed during an interview on Rylan's popular BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday.
Linda, who is 73 years old, shared with listeners that she felt "so sore" and her body was now "black" from bruising. Rylan, who is 37 years old, jokingly mentioned that he received a "lovely phone call" that morning from his mom on her way to the hospital. He then expressed relief that the accident wasn't more severe, as Linda has had previous accidents involving both her arm and leg.
While thanking listeners for their well wishes, Rylan urged his mother to be more careful in the future. He also shared that she has had a long battle with Crohn's disease, which has greatly impacted her life. Linda has had multiple bowel operations and takes medication daily to manage her condition. This chronic disease causes inflammation in the digestive system and has resulted in Linda losing her job.
Rylan also revealed that his mother's diagnosis was not caught early enough, which greatly affected her. He explained that the earlier the disease is detected, the easier it is to manage. Growing up, Rylan's mom's health struggles impacted his life as well. He recalled moments where she couldn't attend school trips or have friends over due to her illness. In 2018, Linda also battled sepsis, which nearly took her life.
Unfortunately, this recent fall is not the first time Linda has experienced health issues. Last summer, she was hospitalized with a mystery illness, causing Rylan to leave his radio show to be by her side. He thanked the hospital staff for taking care of her and updated fans that she had been discharged and was able to celebrate her birthday at home.
In 2023, while on holiday in Marbella, Linda had another accident that required urgent surgery. Rylan shared updates on her condition and thanked everyone for their support. This week, Linda's health issues have been a hot topic as many British TV stars showed their condolences to Lorraine Kelly, who lost her father in a similar fall on the ice.
In a heartbreaking statement, Lorraine shared that her dad had passed away and that her family was mourning his loss. She described her father as a curious and loving man who bought her a telescope at a young age and shared her passion for the moon landing. Lorraine's father, 84-year-old John, had fallen on an icy path and passed away on the scene. The incident is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious by the police.
