48,000 runners expected to complete London Marathon today, but some may drop out due to health or other issues.

Thousands of runners in colourful costumes laced up their trainers today to take part in the London Marathon, raising millions of pounds for charity. A record of 49,675 runners registered for this year's race, up from the previous record of 43,199 in 2019. The event saw a sharp surprise when one runner, dressed as scissors, zipped past the others. Even celebrities and special guests took part in the race, including Adele Roberts who became the fastest person with an ileostomy to finish the marathon, and former X-Factor contestant Jake Quickenden who completed the 26 mile course dressed as a giant bone, in memory of his younger brother Oliver.

Despite having never run more than 11 miles before, he made it across the finish line, feeling emotional but proud.
