Mysuru; In a major breakthrough, the Mysore Railway Protection Force has cracked down on a large-scale scandal involving a fake appointment in the Railway Department and arrested two people. It is said that the arrested cheated 400 candidates to the tune of Rs 22 crore by luring them for jobs.
The arrested identified as Chandragauda S. Patil bin Somanagowda of Mysore and Sivaswamy bin Papanna of Gadag district. Shivaswamy is a retired railway employee. The accused managed to collect Rs 22 crore from 400 job seekers. Many had sold their land and availed loans to pay bribes to the accused. RPF sleuths recovered 221 signed blank cheques, Rs 4.15 lakh cash, original documents of aspiring candidates, checkbooks, 100 fake railway recruitment orders, 70 TTE's forged catalogs, a laptop, and a computer.
The incident came to light when strangers took photographs of the railway hospital. The medical superintendent grew suspicious and informed RPF about the movement of some persons suspiciously walking and photographing the premises. The Railway Protection Force, took them into custody, upon inquiry they revealed that they were running a fake railway recruitment pact, promising a false hope of lucrative rail jobs.
The gang, mainly trapped poor and innocent village boys, collecting their educational certificates and issuing fake call letters, fake medical memo letters, and fake appointment orders. The team had received a large sum of money from job seekers ranging from 3 lakhs to 10 lakhs. RPF Inspectors Satheeshan, M Nishad, Venkatesh, Radhakrishna, and other staff participated in the operation. The case handed over to NR police station for further investigation
