Robbers stole 2 million dimes from a truck in a Walmart parking lot.
Police in Pennsylvania are on the lookout for a group of thieves who recently made off with an estimated $200,000 worth of dimes from the Philadelphia Mint. The daring theft of 2 million ten cent coins reportedly occurred around 6 am on Thursday morning, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Officers were called to a Walmart parking lot in Northeast Philadelphia, where a group of '10 or more males' were seen stealing items from a parked semi trailer. The truck was carrying approximately $750,000 worth of dimes and was on its way to Florida. The driver had stopped to rest at his home in Northeast Philadelphia before completing the shipment.

Workers try to clean up thousands of dimes spilled from the truck during the robbery

The thieves left behind a scene of chaos, as thousands of dimes were scattered across the parking lot of the Philadelphia Mills shopping center. Police officers and other workers worked to clean up the mess by hand, collecting the coins into plastic buckets.

The police identified two cars they believed were related to the robbery – a white Chrysler 300 with tinted windows and a dark colored pickup truck. It is still unclear if the robbery is connected to any other thefts in the area.

This daring heist has sparked a significant effort from the police to bring the perpetrators to justice.
