Richard only scored 3% in his GCSE Maths exam.
Richard Madeley, the Good Morning Britain presenter, recently revealed his Maths GCSE result, and it was a shocker. Despite having a glittering TV career over the decades, alongside wife Judy Finnigan, he didn't secure a Maths GCSE, leaving school at 16 to pursue journalism.

On Friday's GMB, he further revealed that not only did he fail his exam, but got a horrible result of just three percent. Ranvir Singh was taken aback by this confession. She replied incredulously: "Three percent?!" Richard said, "The paper was so bad the examiner sent it back to my headmaster as an example of the worst paper of the year."

Although Richard was quite happy to say it was a "good job I didn't want to be a teacher," it was evident that Ranvir was still in shock. Richard went on to say he was more than able to do arithmetic and normal sums, but "couldn't do the algebra." He argued that "very good potential teachers are missing out on the profession" because of struggling with maths, even if their plan is to be an art or English teacher and won't need to use maths whatsoever in their role.

It hasn't affected Richard's future prospects though, as he still holds down the position of GMB presenter - even if he's compared to Alan Partridge at least once a week. On December 19, his bizarre comparison to the Battle of the Atlantic throughout the Second World War caused a stir. He said: "Basically a bunch of warlords is coming out of Yemen into the Red Sea on board small boats and on drones, and they're landing on tankers and terrorising the crew. I just find it extraordinary that we could win the Battle of the Atlantic against German U-boats and torpedoes, but we can't seem to protect our shipping going up the Red Sea."

This made GMB viewers immediately compare Richard to Steve Coogan's character Partridge. One person wrote on Twitter, "Maximum Partridge" to express their reaction to Richard's words. It goes to show that despite not getting his Maths GCSE, Richard has gone on to carve out a successful career as a journalist.
