Is EA Sports FC not living up to expectations? The recent letters page expresses frustration over game developers failing to deliver what players really want, with one reader expressing disappointment over the retirement of Nobuo Uematsu. If you want to join in on the discussion, you can email us.

For me personally, I must say I am quite disappointed with EA Sports FC. We're only two games into the "new" franchise and it already feels like a lazy cash grab. The first game didn't seem to put in any special effort and felt like a copy of FIFA 24, while this year's game feels more like a DLC upgrade.

I really wish there was some real competition for EA, like eFootball or another rival, because at the moment they have no reason to improve since people will still line up to buy their games. And I have to admit, I am one of those people. I want to play as my favorite teams, so what other options do I have? Dust off my old PlayStation 2 and go back to playing PES?

I have little faith in FIFA's promise to make their own game, but I do believe the only hope for shaking things up is if they team up with 2K and create a completely new series. Of course, this might come with microtransactions and other shady practices, but let's be real, EA Sports FC isn't much better as it is. I just hope they come up with a better name than EA Sports FC, because let's be honest, it's pretty lame to say and type out.

Moving on to a different topic, I often find myself avoiding mentioning that I am a gamer to people outside of our community. The truth is, there are some pretty awful individuals who play games and use social media, and we seem to be shielded from the outside world's lack of interest. All the drama and death threats that occur within our community often go unreported by mainstream media. I personally only hear about these issues on this site. It's been years since I've heard video games being mentioned negatively on TV news. And even when they are, it's usually in relation to a violent crime, which is rare in itself.

So let's all take a deep breath and relax, because the rest of the world has no idea how terrible we can be.

On a brighter note, I am currently loving Silent Hill 2 and I take back everything I ever said about Bloober Team. As I near the end of the game, I can't help but wonder if they will do remakes of any of the other games in the series. While Silent Hill 3 may not be as good as the second one, it is still a top-tier survival horror game. The original is also a strong contender, but it may end up looking too similar to the first game with a less compelling story. It's a shame that we are now left with no good Silent Hill games to look forward to. Perhaps it was best to just have the second game and no others.

I have been on the fence about whether or not to get the PS5 Pro. Will you be reviewing it? I am also very interested in Mike Bithell's Tron game after reading his interview. And I must say, what an amazing gesture from Julian. If the N64 is still available, I would love to request it. My nephew missed out on the N64 era and I would be happy to provide my email for you to pass on to Julian.

I also wanted to mention that The Suffering turned 20 this year. I want to pay tribute to my favorite PlayStation 2 game. It had a captivating story, intense action, great humor, and it was surprisingly long without dragging on. It's a real shame that it's unlikely to receive a remake, even though it would be a great candidate. The Suffering will always hold a special place in my heart.

And lastly, I have to agree that the appeal of Mario Party is underrated. Last Christmas, I played the 2018 game with my 82-year-old grandad, 7-year-old niece, and my wife, and we all had a fantastic time. We will definitely be playing it (or the new one) again this Christmas.

Speaking for myself, I have been greatly disappointed by EA Sports FC. We are only two games into the "new" franchise and it already feels like a money-making scheme with little effort put into it. The first game did not stand out in any special way, as it could have easily been a part of FIFA 24. And this year's edition feels like a mere DLC upgrade.
I truly wish that eFootball or another rival game could give EA some real competition. As it stands, they have no real motivation to improve their games, since people will continue to purchase them regardless. I must admit, I am guilty of being one of those people. I simply want to play as my favorite teams, so what other option do I have? Go back to my PlayStation 2 and play PES?
I have very little faith in FIFA's claim that they will create their own game. The only hope for shaking things up is if they team up with 2K and create a brand new series. Of course, this would likely mean the inclusion of microtransactions and other unsavory tactics, but let's be real, EA Sports FC is not much better as it is. My only request is that they come up with a better name. EA Sports FC just sounds and feels bland.
Moving on to a different topic, I don't shy away from calling myself a gamer. However, I must admit that our gaming community is not always portrayed in the best light. We seem to be shielded from the outside world, as all the drama and death threats that occur in gaming go largely unreported by mainstream media. I only hear about these incidents on this site. It has been years since I've heard anything negative about games on television news. And even when it is mentioned, it usually involves some sort of violent crime, which is fortunately rare.
So, let's all just relax. The rest of the world doesn't realize how terrible we can sometimes be.
Moving on to a different topic, I am currently loving Silent Hill 2. I must retract any negative comments I have previously made about Bloober Team. I am nearing the end of the game and I can't help but wonder if they will remake any of the other games in the series. Silent Hill 3 may not be as good as the second installment, but it still stands as a superior survival horror game and ranks in the top three in the series. The other contender is the original game, but the issue there is that it may end up looking too similar to the first Silent Hill, with a not-so-great storyline. Sadly, it seems that both games are unlikely to receive a remake, which is a shame because now we have nothing to look forward to in the Silent Hill franchise. Perhaps it was best to just leave it at the second game.
I have been on the fence about getting the PS5 Pro. I am curious if you will be getting one to review, as I would greatly value your opinion on it. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed the Mike Bithell interview and I am highly interested in his upcoming Tron game. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for that one.
Lastly, I must mention the incredible gesture from Julian. If the N64 has not already been claimed, I would love to ask for it. My nephew missed out on the N64 era and I would be more than happy to receive it. Feel free to send me an email.
Keep up the great work, GC!

Speaking of forgotten things, has anyone else noticed that The Suffering turned 20 this year? I just wanted to pay tribute to my favorite PlayStation 2 game. It was truly a well-rounded game with a captivating dark story, intense action, good humor, and a decent length without dragging on. It's a shame that it is unlikely to receive a remake, as it would be a perfect candidate. I still salute The Suffering.

I have to agree with the underrated appeal of Mario Party. Last Christmas, I played the 2018 edition with my 82-year-old grandad, my seven-year-old niece, my wife, and myself. We all had a blast and will definitely be playing it or the new game this Christmas as well.
