Chandigarh: On the auspicious occasion of Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann, launched the Punjab government's free 'Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra' scheme at Dhuri, Punjab.
The scheme facilitates pilgrims to visit holy places across the country and state. It will help more than 50,000 devotees over three months to travel to Sri Hazur Sahib Gurdwara, Nanded, Maharashtra and other destinations. 13 trains with 1,000 passengers each and 10 buses with 43 passengers each, will be available every 8 days and each day respectively. Teams of doctors and other officials will also be present to ensure a comfortable journey.
The pilgrims will be provided with free food in the AC trains and buses, as well as AC accommodations at the destination. Kejriwal highlighted that in Delhi, more than 80,000 people had already taken advantage of this scheme.
Mann further mentioned that the state government was striving to enhance the efficiency of Punjab Police with the help of AI technology. He also mentioned that Kejriwal and himself will be participating in a roadshow in Chhattisgarh on November 3.
The 'Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra' scheme is yet another step taken by the state government to serve the people and help them experience the divine sights of various holy places in India.
