Nandapur: Vehicle owners in Nandapur are concerned about the poor quality of pollution control stickers being issued by the state Transport department, which are easily damaged or washed away during vehicle cleaning.
Nandapur: It seems like the state Transport department has come up with a new rule - all vehicles need to have a pollution under control certificate (PUCC) and failing to do so will result in penalties. However, this new rule has raised concerns among vehicle owners regarding the quality of the stickers being issued. According to sources, these stickers are printed on ordinary paper and are not able to withstand vehicle cleaning, causing them to get damaged or washed away.
As per the rules, vehicle owners are required to take their vehicles to authorized pollution checking centers for testing. If their vehicles pass the test, they are given a sticker to affix on their vehicle, indicating that they are compliant with the pollution control regulations. However, many vehicle owners have noticed that these stickers are not durable enough and have questioned their validity.
This has become a major inconvenience for vehicle owners as they fear being penalized despite having a valid PUCC. To add to their frustration, the authorized pollution testing centers have informed them that the stickers are provided by the Transport Department. Since the PUCC remains valid for six months, vehicle owners have requested the state Transport department to issue better-quality and more durable stickers that can withstand weather conditions and remain intact for the entire validity period.
This issue has been highlighted by Orissa POST, Odisha's most popular English daily. It is important for the Transport Department to take note of these concerns and address them in a timely manner. After all, it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that the rules and regulations put in place are practical and feasible for the citizens. Let's hope that the authorities take necessary steps to resolve this issue and provide vehicle owners with better-quality stickers for their PUCCs.
