James Jordan has been very vocal following his departure from Strictly Come Dancing. The former professional dancer, who left the show in 2013, has expressed his views on this year's celebrity line-up.
The current season of Strictly Come Dancing has welcomed contestants such as Love Island's Zara McDermott and EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier. However, Jordan has warned those celebrities without any prior dance training to think twice before signing up. His comments come after West End performer Layton Williams received hateful comments online due to his past performing experience.
In an interview with HELLO!, Jordan said: "He [Layton] is a fully trained, professional dancer. When they came out, you had essentially two professional dancers next to each other. Let's not say, 'Oh it's because [Layton] is really talented and has worked really hard'. Because that kind of belittles our dancing world that someone can come out and be that good after a week's training. You can't."
Jordan continued: "It was probably one of my favourite dances I've ever seen on the show - but that's only because he's a professional dancer. Do I feel Strictly are going too far by bringing on professionally trained dancers? Yes."
Layton was quick to deny rumours of his past dance training, taking to Twitter to clarify the situation. He wrote: "Lemme clear up this *fact* real quick. I had my 1st introduction to Ballroom & Latin class in rehearsals yesterday and it was so much fun xxx".
The actor and dancer has had a number of big roles throughout his career, including the lead role in Billy Elliot at the age of just 12. He has also starred in productions such as Hairspray and Rent.
Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One. For more celebrity stories, videos, and pictures get in touch with the The Agency entertainment team.
