Prigozhin speaks out after being sent to Belarus following his role in Wagner leadership.
After being exiled to Belarus following his failed coup, Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner Group, has broken his silence and called for support. In a clip released on Telegram, he thanked the public for their support and called on them to continue to rally behind his mercenary army.

Yesterday marked the first time Prigozhin has spoken since his exile, with the last time being back on June 26th when he denied the coup was an attempt to overthrow the Russian president and instead, was an effort to ‘avoid a bloodbath’.

Since his exile, a plane linked to Prigozhin has been seen flying between Belarus, Moscow, and St Petersburg. On Monday, the Wagner Group were still actively seeking recruits with advertisements on their Telegram channel.

The Russian defence minister, Sergei Shoigu, also spoke out yesterday, praising the members of the armed forces for remaining loyal to their oaths and duties.

Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko has offered Prigozhin and his troops an abandoned military base to stay in, at their own expense, with satellite images showing a rapid construction in the village of Tsel. This has caused some concern in neighbouring Baltic countries, as to how this affects regional security.
