A flustered TV presenter was left recovering from a very awkward live blunder, when she accidentally swore in front of the Prime Minister. Host Melanie Bracewell had been interviewing Australian PM Anthony Albanese on Network 10's current affairs programme, The Cheap Seats, when it all started going wrong.
At one point, Bracewell - who is from New Zealand - and co-host Tim McDonald jokingly handed Albanese her 'citizenship papers' for him to approve. But at the wrong moment, she accidentally dropped her mic and said: 'Sorry, sorry. F***!'
Albanese and the live audience burst into laughter, as she was left apologising for the ill-timed comment. 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to swear in front of you. That's embarrassing!' She exclaimed.
The Aussie PM laughed it off, while McDonald tried to save the show and handed Albanese the 'citizenship papers'. 'Feel free to write "Denied" on that now, it might be a bit more appropriate' he joked, as Albanese crossed it off. 'If we denied Australian citizenship [to those] who said that word, we'd really struggle,' he replied in good humour. 'We'd really have a skills crisis.'
It's not the first awkward moment to take the internet by storm. During a segment on the Today show, hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo were left stunned after an unexpected guest made a joke about vegans falling to their deaths.
The young boy began by asking: 'A vegan and a vegetarian are jumping off a cliff to see who will hit the bottom first. Who wins?' 'I don’t know,' Stefanovic said. 'Who wins?' Abo asked. Not missing a beat, he smirked and replied: 'Society!'
After spending a split second taking the joke in, the hosts gasped and looked totally taken aback as the dark nature of the joke set in. As Abo put her hand over her mouth in shock, Stefanovic fell to the ground while their co-host Brooke Boney also looked startled by what she’d just heard. One of the hosts could then be heard exclaiming: ‘We weren’t expecting that.’
The clip soon started making the rounds on social media and was later picked up by American commentator Benny Johnson, who called it ‘the single greatest moment in television history’.
