Poll security increased to ensure safety.
In preparation for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections on May 25th in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police has announced increased security measures. A total of 12 CAPF personnel will be stationed at each of the 152 critical polling booths in the city. This decision was made to ensure the safety and security of the voting process and to maintain a peaceful environment for all voters.

At a press conference, Twin City police commissioner Sanjeeb Panda shared that two software applications, namely the police patrolling and booth monitoring system, and the vehicle tracking system will be utilized to closely monitor the security situation at the polling booths. These applications will also provide timely updates to the control room and assist supervising officers in reaching the booths through the most efficient routes.

In addition, 525 sensitive booths out of a total of 1,132, which fall under five Assembly seats, will be webcasted during the polling. Panda also mentioned that a team of three DCPrank officers, five additional DCP-rank officers, 35 inspectors, 293 SIs, and 12 companies of CAPF will be deployed across all polling booths in the city.

To prevent any potential incidents of violence during the elections, extra CAPFs will be stationed at cluster locations of four booths. Panda further elaborated that 421 Sakhi booths will have the exclusive deployment of women police personnel. He added, "A total of 51 mobile parties have been formed to provide immediate assistance. Each party will be supervised by an ACP."

Furthermore, to ensure efficient management of the security arrangements, one additional DCP will supervise the security of each Assembly constituency. Five contingency units have also been enlisted to provide necessary rescue, evacuation, and hospitalization services to polling staff if needed. Panda also informed that a unified control room will operate from the Police Seva Bhavan, under the supervision of an additional DCP, while two adhoc control rooms will function from BJB College and Panchagaon village under Airfield police limits. These control rooms will be responsible for overseeing the overall security situation and addressing any emergencies that may arise.

In conclusion, the Commissionerate Police is fully committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for the upcoming elections in Bhubaneswar. With the implementation of advanced technology and the deployment of a strong security force, we are confident in our ability to ensure a successful and peaceful voting process.
