Last Thursday night, the City Chowk police arrested a man identified as Mohd Akram Abdul Jabbar for allegedly storing and selling banned gutkha and scented tobacco products. Along with the seizure of these products, the police also confiscated an auto-rickshaw amounting to a total of Rs 1.20 lakh.
The raid was conducted on the basis of information received by the police that Akram had stored the products in his home and auto-rickshaw. Upon inspection, they found the tobacco products worth Rs 40,500 and the auto-rickshaw worth Rs 80,000.
The food inspector Jyotsna Jadhav filed a complaint with the City Chowk police station in response to the raid, and PSI Arjun Kadam is currently investigating the case. The police are hoping to find out more information about the illegal products and the person responsible for their distribution.
