PM Modi submits candidacy from Varanasi
On Tuesday, in the city of Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a significant step towards retaining his position as the representative for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat. With the aim of securing a larger victory margin than his previous two wins in 2014 and 2019, PM Modi arrived at the district collectorate in a car and walked to the office where he filed his nomination papers.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi's four proposers for his nomination were Pandit Gyaneshwar Shastri, Baijnath Patel, Lalchand Kushwaha, and Sanjay Sonkar. Before filing his nomination, PM Modi shared on social media about his special connection with Kashi, saying, "My relationship with my Kashi is amazing, inseparable, and incomparable... all I can say is that it cannot be expressed in words."

This filing of nomination in Varanasi was reminiscent of PM Modi's previous campaign strategy, where he held a grand roadshow in the city the day before filing his nomination papers in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the morning, the Prime Minister also performed the 'Ganga Pujan' at Dashashwamedh Ghat and then boarded a cruise ship to NaMo Ghat. He also visited the Kaal Bhairav temple before heading to file his nomination papers.

The day before, on Monday, PM Modi had held an extravagant roadshow in Varanasi, which was attended by over 100,000 saffron-clad supporters. He was joined by CM Adityanath and BJP state president Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, as well as several Union ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP president J. P. Nadda.

Leaders from various NDA members were also present for the occasion, such as CM Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Chhattisgarh counterpart Vishnu Deo Sai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Goa counterpart Pramod Sawant, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, and Tripura counterpart Manik Saha.

Additionally, leaders of NDA constituents, including RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary, Lok Janshakti Party chief Chirag Paswan, Apna Dal president Anupriya Patel, and SBSP president Om Prakash Rajbhar, were also in attendance. After filing his nomination papers, PM Modi briefly interacted with the guests before heading to the Rudraksh Convention Centre, where he met with local party workers.

Varanasi is set to vote in the final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections on June 1. It is clear that PM Modi's nomination filing was a momentous event, with a significant show of support from various leaders and party workers. With his previous two wins in Varanasi, PM Modi is hoping to secure an even bigger victory this time around.
