This week, Pinky Cole Hayes, the owner of the popular plant-based fast food chain Slutty Vegan, took to Instagram to share an unfortunate update about her car. In a video posted on May 25, Cole explained that her Bentley had been stolen while she was parked outside her new Atlanta sandwich shop, Voagies.
In the candid clip, Cole revealed that three individuals on scooters had pulled up to Voagies and quickly hopped into her black Bentley before speeding off with her car. She expressed her frustration, saying, "Y'all, I swear this car is not good luck. We're at Voagies and somebody just stole the car that we just got out of the shop yesterday, right in front of the restaurant while we had customers waiting in line to order food."
For Cole, Voagies is her latest business venture, a vegan hoagie restaurant that she was excited to launch. As she panned the camera to show the street where her car was stolen, she also pointed out the abandoned scooters on the curb and other patrons in the background. "They even left their scooters on the ground," she shared. "If you happen to see a black Bentley in Atlanta, please send me a DM. The police are on their way, but somebody just stole it."
She explained that three men had jumped into her Bentley and driven off while she was inside the restaurant. Despite this setback on what should have been an exciting day for the entrepreneur, Cole reassured her fans that she wouldn't let it get her down. "We can't seem to catch a break, but you know what? God is still good. So if you see a Bentley, send me a DM ASAP."
As we previously reported, Cole is no stranger to the business world. The 37-year-old originally founded Slutty Vegan, a popular plant-based restaurant chain, and recently opened Voagies as another addition to her growing empire. However, she faced some challenges with Slutty Vegan that led her to temporarily surrender control of her company to satisfy creditors who were unhappy with management's "exorbitant" overhead spending.
After six weeks of reflection, Cole was able to buy back her company and embarked on a new journey by launching a joint venture with her husband, who also owns Big Dave's Cheesesteaks. At the time, she stated, "My previous investors brought value in their own way, but when it comes to growth and elevation, I'm now partnering with a new group of people, and I'm truly excited about it."
During the grand opening of Voagies, Cole shared her vision for the future, saying, "This is the first business of Slutty Vegan 2.0. This is a hoagie shop like you've never experienced before. This brand is going to expand in a way that you've never seen before. We'll see it all over the world."
Today, Slutty Vegan has eight locations, including five in Georgia, and individual spots in Alabama, Maryland, and New York. It's clear that Cole's determination and perseverance have led her to great success, even in the face of challenges like the recent theft of her car.
