The town of Jhabua recently witnessed a shocking incident when a patwari was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe. According to the complaint lodged by Kishore Singh Parmar, the patwari, Hemant Rathore, had demanded Rs. 63,000 for issuing a map that was needed to register a land purchase of 22 acres in Kishore's name.
Upset with the demand for a bribe, Kishore complained to the Lokayukta SP. After verifying the complaint, the team prepared a plan to trap Rathore. On Monday, Kishore was asked to visit the patwari's residence with Rs. 30,000 as the first instalment of the bribe, and convince him that he would pay the remaining amount after receiving the document.
As soon as Rathore accepted the bribe, the team caught him with the money. He was subsequently booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Meanwhile, Prahlad Patel, the Member of Parliament for Jhabua, has been away from the district. He was spotted at the Udaipur Neelkantheshar Temple where he was worshipping Lord Shiva. He was accompanied by a group of devotees who were chanting Vedic mantras.
