Amber was shocked when she woke up to find the hallway of her stateroom on the Carnival Radiance filled with water. She quickly recorded a video of the hallway, which has now been viewed more than 7 million times.
People’s reactions to the video ranged from shock to amusement, with one user commenting, “I think I’ve seen this film before and I didn’t like the ending.”
In another video, Amber showed the carpet of her stateroom covered with water and some of her belongings soaked. She wrote, “At 2AM we were woken up with water gushing into our room from the ceiling on the carnival radiance. Security in this video telling me I can’t record. It was absolutely terrifying. Still waiting on corporate to contact us.”
Carnival Cruise Line investigated the issue and determined that it was caused by a burst water line. A Carnival Cruise Line spokeswoman told news.com.au that the flooding was due to “a burst water line” that impacted “an area of the ship that accounts for less than 2% of its staterooms”. The ship’s team members cleaned the area and the pipe was fixed.
Carnival Radiance debuted in 2000 and had a $200million retrofit and refurbishment in 2020. Unfortunately, it is not the first cruise ship to suffer a plumbing issue. Last year, the floor of the Carnival Vista was flooded and left passengers walking ankle-deep in water.
