Madikeri, Oct. 29: Paddy and ragi are being purchased in the district under the government's support price. The registration of names of farmers has already begun. District Collector Venkat Raja has appealed to the farmers of the district to take advantage of this scheme.

He spoke while presiding over the Task Force Committee meeting held under the Minimum Support Price Scheme for the year 2025-26 at the District Collector's Office Hall.

As per the orders of the Central Government, paddy and ragi are being purchased from farmers under the Minimum Support Price Scheme for the year 2025-26, and he appealed to them to take advantage of this opportunity.

Paddy and ragi are being purchased under the support price in the district. The government has appointed Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited as the purchasing agency, and the purchasing process is being carried out through them. To facilitate farmers across the district, purchase centers have been opened at 05 locations in Madikeri APMC premises, Kushalnagar APMC premises, Gonikoppa APMC premises and Somwarpet APMC Market premises and at the Taluk Agriculture Department office in Virajpet town, he said, and farmers should be able to provide their paddy at the registration centers. If there are technical problems with the registration of farmers, they should be fixed immediately. In this regard, farmers should be informed on page 47. The amount of paddy and ragi purchased from farmers at the purchase centers will be directly deposited into the bank account of the farmers. At the registration center, farmers have to provide their NPCI bank account details linked to their Fruit ID and Aadhaar number, he said.

The District Collector told the procurement agencies to provide more information about the paddy purchase registration to farmers, leaders and through farmer contact centers in rural areas and to provide details about the farmer registration centers and paddy purchase centers.

Joint Director of the Food Department Manteswamy gave information and the paddy/ragi purchase process will be held in a few days. He said that the price of regular paddy per quintal is Rs. 2369 and that of ragi per quintal is Rs. 4886.

Farmers who want to sell paddy should already be registered in the PROUTS system. If the farmers are not registered, they can register in the PROUTS system and sell their paddy at the purchase centers, informed the Joint Director of the Food Department.

The government intends to provide enriched rice with nutritional value to the beneficiaries, and in this regard, it is mandatory for rice mill owners to implement the blending mission to prepare enriched rice while hulling in rice mills, and it will not be possible to provide paddy for hulling to rice mills that have not implemented it as per the government order.
