The recent incident in Bhubaneswar, Odisha has caused quite a stir due to a foreign woman getting a tattoo of Lord Jagannath on her thigh. This has sparked outrage among the devotees of Lord Jagannath, who have expressed their disappointment and anger at the inappropriate placement of the tattoo.
It all started when a photo of the tattoo went viral on social media, causing an uproar among the devotees. The woman, who works for an NGO, and the owner of the tattoo parlour, took to social media to issue public apologies for their actions. The situation escalated when some devotees filed a complaint at the Sahid Nagar police station, leading to the arrest of two individuals - the artist who drew the tattoo and his boss.
According to ACP Biswaranjan Senapati, the complaint demanded legal action against the tattoo shop owner. After an investigation, it was revealed that the foreign woman had visited the tattoo shop on March 1st and under the instruction of the owner, Rocky Ranjan Bisoi, the artist, Aswini Kumar Pradhan, drew the tattoo on her thigh. Bisoi then took a photo of the woman with the tattoo and shared it on social media.
Both Bisoi and Pradhan have been arrested and will be produced in court tomorrow. One of the complainants, Subrat Mohani, expressed his sentiments saying, "Inking Lord Jagannath tattoo at an inappropriate place hurt our sentiments. It is an insult to all Jagannath devotees and the Hindus in general. We filed the FIR demanding legal action against those involved in this incident."
In the midst of all this chaos, the woman and Bisoi have issued public apologies on social media. In a video message, the woman with folded hands stated, "I did not intend to disrespect Lord Jagannath. I am a true devotee and visit the temple every day. I made a mistake and I am deeply sorry for it. I only requested the artist to place the tattoo in a hidden area. I did not mean to cause any trouble. As soon as it heals, I will have it removed. Please forgive me for my mistake."
On the other hand, the owner of the tattoo parlour explained that the woman had initially wanted the tattoo on her thigh. However, the staff had advised against it and suggested getting it on her arm instead. Despite their recommendations, the woman insisted on getting it on her thigh. The owner sincerely apologized for the incident and stated that he was not present at the time. He also mentioned that the tattoo artist will either cover up or remove the tattoo after 25 days, as removing it now could cause infection.
The woman has promised to revisit the shop to either cover up or remove the tattoo, as per the owner's request. The situation has caused quite a stir in the community, but with apologies issued and legal action taken, it is hoped that this incident will be resolved peacefully.
