After a long wait for justice, the jury in Adams County, Colorado has reached a verdict in the trial of two police officers involved in the death of Elijah McClain.
Randy Roedema was found guilty of criminally negligent homicide and assault in the third degree, while Jason Rosenblatt was acquitted of all charges. Interim Chief of Police of Aurora, Colorado, Art Acevedo, expressed his respect for the verdict and thanked the jury for their service in a statement.

The officers placed McClain in a chokehold and called paramedics to the scene who injected him with ketamine to sedate him. Less than 10 minutes later McClain was unresponsive and went into cardiac arrest.
Nathan Woodyard, the third police officer involved in the case, is being tried separately, while the EMTs at the scene, Jeremy Cooper and Lt. Peter Cichuniec, will be tried together at a later date.
