Off-duty police officer almost hit by car driven by suspect.
Today, a man is scheduled to appear in a South Australian court for a series of alleged crimes spanning from Adelaide to the state's mid-north region. The events unfolded last Saturday, just before 2pm, when an off-duty police officer noticed a Haval SUV with false number plates parked on Ary Street in Jamestown, approximately 220km north of Adelaide. The officer also saw a man trying to exit the vehicle.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the car had been stolen in Victoria earlier in August and had been involved in multiple incidents of petrol theft in Adelaide and Clare over the past month. The off-duty officer attempted to speak with the man, but the driver drove towards him, causing the officer to quickly move out of the way to avoid being hit.

Fortunately, a second off-duty officer and members of the public rushed to the scene to assist. The man was eventually apprehended and arrested. Further investigation led police to search a property on Springbank Road in Jamestown, where they allegedly found firearms and suspected stolen property.

The suspect, a 43-year-old man with no fixed address, has been charged with various offenses, including assault of an emergency worker, possession of firearms, obstruction of police, and serious criminal trespass. He has been denied bail and is set to appear in court today.

The police are still looking into other potential offenses committed by the suspect. If anyone has any information, they are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or make an anonymous online report.
