Odisha CM checks crop destruction from unexpected rains, orders officials to provide aid to impacted farmers.
The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, held a meeting on Saturday to address the recent damage caused by unseasonal rains to farmers in the state. He directed officials to ensure that every affected farmer receives assistance and support during this difficult time.

Majhi stressed the importance of accurately assessing the damage and identifying all affected farmers by December 30th. He also made it clear that regardless of whether the farmers were insured or not, they would receive assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer, according to the guidelines set by both the state and central governments.

It was decided during the meeting that a widespread awareness campaign would be launched to ensure that insured farmers report their losses to their respective insurance companies within the allotted time. As of now, around 1.26 lakh farmers have already submitted their loss reports under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

The Chief Minister urged all insured farmers to report their crop losses by Sunday and encouraged all registered farmers to take advantage of the "Krishi Rakshak" portal or call 14447 to report any damages caused by the unseasonal rains. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, along with other key ministers and senior officials, attended the review meeting.

Majhi reiterated his commitment to supporting the farmers and ensuring that they receive the necessary assistance during this challenging time. He also emphasized the importance of timely action and urged everyone to work together to alleviate the suffering of the affected farmers. The state government remains dedicated to the well-being of its farmers and will continue to provide necessary aid to help them recover from this unfortunate event.
