Tributes have been pouring in for university student Barnaby Webber, one of the three individuals killed in the tragic events that occurred in Nottingham in the early hours of Tuesday.
The 19 year old, who was just five minutes from his home, was making his way back from an end of term party with a friend when the attacker fatally knifed them both.
The family of the young man has now opened up about their 'complete devastation' at the 'senseless murder of our son'. In a statement they said, 'Barnaby Philip John Webber was a beautiful, brilliant, bright young man, with everything in life to look forward to.'
Barnaby's parents, David and Emma Webber, and his younger brother Charlie, further said that he was 'at the start of his journey into adulthood and was developing into a wonderful young man'. They added, 'As parents we are enormously proud of everything he achieved and all the plans he had made.'
The statement also acknowledged the 'talented and passionate cricketer' Barnaby was, as well as pointing out that he was 'over the moon to have made selection to his university cricket team.'
Barnaby's family, who are from Taunton, Somerset, paid tribute to their 'amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend' and asked for privacy as they process and grieve his death.
The family also requested that no further statements be made as the police investigation into the attack develops.
Taunton-based Bishops Hull Cricket Club, of which Barnaby was a member, also paid tribute to the young man, describing him as a 'dear friend'. They invited family and friends to lay flowers and pay their respects at the ground.
Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan also paid his respects to Barnaby, describing him as a 'young cricketer gone far too soon'.
The world is mourning the loss of Barnaby Webber, and we hope that his family finds solace in the outpouring of love and support from the people around them.
