Odisha CM announces launch of 'Subhadra Yojana' on PM Modi's birthday.
On Sunday, Odisha's Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, announced that the 'Subhadra Yojana', a financial assistance scheme promised by the BJP in their election manifesto, will officially begin on September 17th, which also happens to be the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During a felicitation programme organized by the Odisha BJP, Majhi also shared that the Ratna Bhandar of the famous Lord Jagannath temple in Puri will soon be opening its doors, allowing for an inventory of the valuable items stored inside.

"The Subhadra Yojana will be launched on September 17th, in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday," stated Majhi during his speech. This scheme, named after Lord Jagannath's sister, aims to provide women in the state with cash vouchers worth Rs 50,000.

Majhi also assured that the Ratna Bhandar will be opened without further delay and a thorough inventory of the valuable items belonging to the Lords will be conducted. He added that if any discrepancies are found, strict action will be taken against those responsible.

The reopening of the Ratna Bhandar, located in the basement of the 12th-century shrine in Puri, was a hot topic during the recent assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state. The previous BJD government had promised to open the treasury for inventory and repair work during this year's Rath Jatra, which is set to take place next month. The last inventory of the treasury was conducted in 1978.

Last year, the Congress and the then opposition BJO raised concerns about a mismatch between the figures of the quantity of gold and silver ornaments mentioned by the BJD government in the state assembly and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration in an affidavit in the Orissa High Court. This issue was also addressed in the BJP's manifesto and the auditing of the Ratna Bhandar's inventory.

In addition, Majhi shared that his government has decided to create a corpus fund of Rs 500 for the proper management of the Puri Jagannath temple. He also promised that all the pledges made by the BJP in their manifesto will be implemented within the first 100 days of the new government.

Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal hinted at more welfare measures being announced by the saffron party government once they complete 100 days in office. He stated that the four major decisions taken by the government in their first cabinet meeting are just the beginning and that the people of Odisha can expect more positive changes in the near future. "We will have to work hard in the next five years," Samal said, thanking the people of Odisha for trusting the BJP to lead the state.
