NY celebrates 1st Black-owned comedy & performance venue in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn has a new addition to its entertainment scene - a Black-owned comedy and live music venue called 275 Park. This amazing feat was accomplished by none other than New York's own Ray Dejon.

Ray's passion for comedy began when he co-hosted Video Music Box, the longest-running hip-hop video show, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. He has since hosted shows at various venues throughout New York City.

275 Park sits where a supermarket used to be, and now it serves the community with entertainment, drinks, food, and of course, laughter!

In an interview with News 12 Brooklyn, Ray explained the importance of the venue for the neighborhood. "We are the first Black-owned comedy and performance venue in Brooklyn, New York, and one out of two in the entire New York. People in our community, especially in our communities, we're oppressed, and people are not having a good time. People are struggling. Comedy is a relief. Comedy is a medicine."

Ray knows this all too well. He's been incarcerated 26 times, and it was his sense of humor that got him through all of his struggles, whether it be domestic violence, substance abuse, or anything else.

He's welcomed some of the biggest names in comedy to his platforms over the years, including Kevin Hart, Tracey Morgan, JB Smoove, and Mike Epps. "They all visited my comedy platforms in New York," Ray stated.

At 275 Park, you can catch upcoming and established comedians while having a meal and drinks. And, if you happen to be in New York City on New Year's Eve weekend, you can catch the New York Kings of Comedy performing at the venue. So don't miss out - come enjoy some laughs and good company!
