On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted search operations at 20 different locations in six states as part of an ongoing investigation into cases linked with the PFI and their involvement in unlawful and anti-national activities.
In Bhopal, the NIA team reached a house in Khanugaon area around 3.30 am and laid siege to the area. As the doors opened, they entered the house and searched every corner of the premises. The elderly man and his son living in the house were interrogated for more than seven hours.
The searches yielded a substantial cache of evidence which includes laptops, mobile phones, SIM cards, memory cards, pen drives, hard discs, and incriminating documents. The NIA also seized a significant amount of Indian currency worth Rs 8.5 lakh in connection with the case.
The searches were also conducted in various places in Delhi, Bhopal, Thane and Mumbai in Maharashtra, Tonk and Gangapur City districts in Rajasthan, Lucknow, Siddharth Nagar, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Kanpur, and Gorakhpur. Additionally, Madurai was also among the locations where the operations were carried out.
