Mysore-Kodagu MP pushes for railway connectivity to Kodagu

Madikeri; Mysore-Kodagu MP Pratap simha has urged the union railway minister Piyush Goyal to speed up the railway connectivity project of Kodagu district. In a letter dated, 27 June to the minister, Pratap Simha said that the railway department had already conducted the preliminary engineering and traffic survey from Mysuru to Kushalnagar. According to the plans, in the first phase the Mysuru-Kushalnagar broad gauge railway line of 87.20 kms will be installed at an estimated cost of 1,854.62 crores. In the second phase, the railway line from Kushalnagar to Madikeri of 31.20 Kms, will be extended. But so far, no progress was made in this regard by the Railway ministry. 

He said that Kodagu is the only district in state without railway connectivity. Thousands of tourists that visit the district everyday. Thousands of devotees visit Kodagu, as it is birth place of the river Cauvery. He urged the minister to take action immediately in this regard.
