Mumbai Metro 2A's ridership has surpassed 5 crore passengers.
Mumbai's Metro 2A and 7 lines have seen a remarkable increase in ridership in just over a year of their launch. The total ridership on both the lines has now crossed 5 crore mark.

The Maha Mumbai Metro Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) looks after the operations and maintenance of both the corridors. In addition to the increasing ridership, MMMOCL has also witnessed a 40% shift from paper tickets to Mumbai One Card. As many as 1.49 lakh commuters are now making use of the Mumbai One Card.

The MMMOCL has identified several stations including Gundavali, Andheri West, Anand Nagar, Borivali West, Dahanukar Wadi, Dahisar East and Kandivali West as the hotspots for commuters. To ease the congestion during peak hours, an extra entry gate has been added at the Gundavali station on Line 7.

Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, MMMOCL CMD and Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, expressed his delight at the rising ridership. He said, “Mumbaikars are increasingly choosing Metro as their preferred mode of transportation. We are seeing a 5% growth in ridership every month, which is a significant achievement.”

The good news doesn't end here. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has recently proposed the extension of Metro from Nigdi to Katraj. Punekars will soon be able to enjoy the convenience of Metro travel!
