Tragically, Damarcus then made good on his threat, shooting Abrielle in the chest. Her other brother, Darcus Coley, 15, then retaliated by shooting Damarcus in the stomach.

Following the incident, both boys were arrested by police. Damarcus has been charged with first degree murder, child abuse, and being a delinquent in possession of a firearm. Darcus was taken to a mental health facility and will be taken into juvenile custody charged with attempted first degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Abrielle was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead due to internal bleeding and an inability to breathe. Fortunately, the baby in the carrier was not harmed.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri explained at a press conference that the shooting happened after the family had arrived at the house at 1.45pm. He said, “While they were shopping, 15-year-old Darcus was jealous that their mother was getting 14-year-old Damarcus more gifts than he was receiving. So they had this family spat about who was getting what and what money was being spent on who, and having this big thing in the store, all arguing with each other. They left the store and headed to their grandmother's house, which is where the incident happened.”
