Mandsaur: On Wednesday, Congress launched its ‘Jan Aakrosh Yatra’ from the city of Mandsaur, in retaliation to the BJP’s ‘Jan Aashirwad Yatra’ . Before the commencement of the Yatra, former minister and Yatra in-charge Jitu Patwari addressed a public meeting and criticised the BJP government for its alleged corruption and scams.
Patwari claimed that the large turnout post the Ganesh festival was a sign of the public’s disappointment with the BJP government. He accused Chief Minister Shivraj Singh of making false promises in the last 18 years and suggested that the Jan Aashirwad Yatra was a cover-up of the two lakh women missing from the state and the government’s involvement in various examination scams and illicit liquor trade.
At the rally, Patwari was accompanied by several leaders including Tarana MLA Mahesh Parmar, Khachraud MLA Dilip Gurjar, Kala Peepal MLA Kunal Chaudhary, Kuldeep Indora, Archana Jaiswal, district president Vipin Jain, and Rajesh Raghuvanshi. He received blessings from the people who expressed their discontent with the ‘deal-making government’ of the BJP.
The Yatra commenced after Patwari and the leaders offered prayers at the Pashupatinath Temple. During the journey, the Yatra is scheduled to cover 1,700 kilometres of the Malwa Nimar region, passing through Malhargarh Pipliya and Neemuch. The event was attended by hordes of people, and is seen as Congress’s response to the BJP’s Jan Aashiwad Yatra.
