Mother gives birth to a baby 30 years to the day after her own birth on Christmas Day.
Katie Fuller, 30, was overjoyed to celebrate her festive birthday with her new son, Barney Forsythe, this year. What made it even more special is the fact that the chances of them sharing a birthday on Christmas Day are 0.0075 percent.

Katie, from Hemel Hempstead, was originally planning to be induced, but her contractions started naturally the day before, on Christmas Eve. After 32 hours of labor, Barney was born at 5:40pm on Christmas Day, exactly 30 years, 13 hours and 40 minutes after his mum.

"Barney was my best Christmas and birthday present ever," Katie said. "I feel like I'm only just coming back down to Earth – I didn't expect to give birth on Christmas Day. I was like, 'what the hell is happening?'"

Growing up as a Christmas baby has been "tricky" for Katie, as she never felt like she got a "full birthday experience". Every year, her parents, Anne and David Fuller, have gone out of their way to make it special by giving her double the presents, but she still missed out on spending her birthday with friends.

From now on, she plans to celebrate Barney's birthday twice – with a party earlier in the year and presents at Christmas. "It's nice to always have my family around me on my birthday," Katie said, "but I can't see my mates because they're all celebrating Christmas at home. It's tricky being a Christmas baby – I want to raise Barney with two separate birthdays, like the Queen used to have."

Katie was stunned to find out that her epidural had failed after she had already been in labor for hours. With Barney stuck at 5cm, doctors decided to deliver via c-section.

"It was a real slow process, all Sunday night and during the day on Monday – and very painful," she said. "But I definitely don't mind sharing a birthday with Barney – we'll be having lots of joint birthday parties – it's an incredibly special thing. And what are the odds! A mum and son sharing a birthday on Christmas Day – it's the craziest thing I've ever heard."
