Trista Fullerton of Arkansas was arrested after her eight biological children, whom she had allegedly abducted, were found in California. On Saturday afternoon, officers from the Anderson Police Department responded to a welfare check request from a concerned citizen and discovered Fullerton and six of her children in a parking lot. The Dodge pickup truck they were travelling in had an Arkansas license plate, confirming that Fullerton was, in fact, from Rogers, Arkansas and had an outstanding felony warrant for the abduction of the eight children.
Upon arrest, Fullerton was interviewed for the whereabouts of the two other missing kids. She stated that they were at a home in the Cottonwood area. Deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office assisted in locating them and taking them to a local children and family services agency. According to the Anderson Police Department, Fullerton was the biological mother of all of the children, but had lost her custodial rights and had taken them from their foster placements. All eight of the children were found safe.
Fullerton was booked into Shasta County Jail, and the Shasta County Children and Family Services worked to reunify the kids with their guardians in Arkansas. It is not yet known why Fullerton lost custody of her kids or how long she was with them before being arrested. The police department shared an image of Fullerton with handcuffs and looking downcast upon arrest. They also posted a picture of the pickup truck, which was trashed with food wrappers, soda bottles, plastic and paper bags on the floor and dashboard.
The Anderson Police Department and Shasta County Sheriff’s Office thanked the citizen who made the welfare check call and reminded the public to speak up if they see something suspicious.
