MN's Black woman-owned market works to provide better food options to its community.
Chaz Sandifer's Lakeview Terrace Farmer's Market in Robbinsdale is making a big difference in the community. For the past two years, the market has been providing people with better nutrition options and access to healthy food. The market features farmers from around the region who provide the community with locally grown, in-season produce.

Vendors sell a variety of items, such as fresh meat, artisan baked goods, jams, juices, and crafts. Shoppers can also enjoy meals and snacks prepared on-site from various food trucks and booths.

Sandifer has made sure that the market is open to everyone. “It doesn’t mean it’s just for Black people,” she said. “We want the whole community to come out.” She also shared that the market offers more than just food. “We have free fitness classes every Saturday at 9:30 a.m.,” she said. There are also music and art classes, cooking demonstrations, competitions, and back-to-school events. Visitors can even watch Knife-Offs featuring local chefs from across the region.

Sandifer sponsors and manages the Lakeview Terrace Farmer's Market through her small business theNEWmpls. The market is open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday through September 23, 2023. It is located at the northeast corner of Bottineau Boulevard and Lakeland Avenue, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, across from Hy-Vee.

The Lakeview Terrace Farmer's Market is a great way for the community to come together and learn about healthy lifestyles. Sandifer is passionate about her mission to make better nutrition available to everyone. As she said, “We are going to have so much fun this summer!”
