Lady Gaga joined the Rolling Stones on stage for their impromptu show in New York to celebrate the release of their upcoming album Hackney Diamonds. Gaga, 37, looked incredible in a red and black sequined body suit and belted out the anthem note-perfect.
However, it was Mick Jagger, 80, who stole the show. Despite being almost five decades Gaga's senior, he outpaced her with every frenzied leap and jump across the tiny stage. She even adopted some of his moves moments later. Jagger spoke with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 about working with the “really great singer”.
“I’d never heard her sing [in] quite that style before. Not exactly,” the frontman said. “We did it live in the room and that was a great experience, her just coming in the room and her just opening up and seeing her bits and feeling her way and then getting more confident. And then we came back and then did some extra parts that we hadn’t done on the day and then we did some tidying up and we were just in the overdub room, really face-to-face, getting them really tight, the parts really tight, and then being slightly competitive and screaming.”
The star-studded evening was attended by the likes of Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig, who made a stylish entrance. Rachel wore a chic black and white blouse and trouser combo with chunky heels, while Daniel went for a more casual outfit with jeans and a crewneck cardigan. They were joined by Jimmy Fallon, Camila Morrone, Jemima Kirke, Christie Brinkley, and Christy Turlington.
Hackney Diamonds is the Rolling Stones' first album filled with fresh material in 18 years and the first album since the death of the Rolling Stones’ long-time drummer Charlie Watts two years ago.
